I had driven to this location to catch the sunset on a series of ridges looking up into the Davis Mountains. With the band of clouds behind me, I was depending on the sun to reach all the way over to hit the mountains just so. Once I figured the geometry wasn't going to work, I turned the tripod around and shot the sunset directly.
I started my 8 hour drive home on Monday morning leaving Alpine before dawn. Heading north on highway 67 to Fort Stockton, I turned down a dirt road to catch the light of sunrise lighting the plain and striking the distant mountains.
